STEM Core
The STEM Core program is a cohort-based learning community that focuses on expanding the pipeline of students pursuing careers in the STEM Field. Participants will take classes together, receive academic counseling, intensive math preparation, guaranteed admissions to math courses, and internship placement assistance. Our scholars are part of one of three programs:
1) STEM Scholars – students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics (STEM)
2) Cyber Scholars – students interested in pursuing technology related careers
3) MASS Scholars – STEM majors who have been awarded the Math Acceleration for STEM Students scholarship
To be eligible for STEM Core you must:
1. Have math placement level of MATH 083-Intermediate Algebra, MATH 163-Precalculus I, or MATH 165-Precalculus II
2. Agree to be part of accelerated math classes
3. Submit an essay on academic and career goals (300 words or less) at the end of this application
To be eligible for a scholarship, in addition to the above requirements, you must:
1. Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to demonstrate financial need
3. High School Applicants: Have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and completion of Algebra II or higher with at least a B
4. Current CCBC Students – Have a minimum 2.8 CCBC GPA and 12 or more credits earned in the last 2 years; 6 credits of STEM work
